Guy Gross - News

2008 is shaping up to be one of Guy's busiest. The first half has seen him score no less than four different documentary projects and a Telemovie:

The documentaries are The Fairweather Man, (Dir: Aviva Zeigler) an intimate portrait of the life and work of Australia's greatest abstract painter Ian Fairweather. The Prime Minister is Missing, (Dir: Peter Butt) which reinvestigates all aspects of the disappearance of Harold Holt. Family Fortunes, (Prod: ABC) a 4 part series following the financial ups and downs of four prominent Australians. Infamous Victory - Ben Chifley's Battle for Coal, (Dir: Geoff Burton) which follows the Chifley Labor government's "boots and all" attack on striking coal miners of 1949.

Guy has also recently scored the Telemovie Scorched (Dir Tony Tilse) about the bushfire threat on a drought-ravaged Sydney of the future to be aired later this year on Nine.

The US hit TV series Farscape continues to be a part of Guy's life with the release of Volume 3 in the Farscape Classics Soundtrack series. FARSCAPE CLASSICS: VOL 3 features complete scores to the memorable episodes THE CHOICE (season 3) and THE LOCKET (season 2). These emotionally charged scores showcase Guy's diverse musical talents, which have helped elevate this creative sci-fi television series, produced by the Jim Henson Company, to its cult phenomenon status.

In late 2007, Guy’s completed the score for the documentary “Fat Chance” . The program aired on SBS to great acclaim.

Fat Chance is a deeply personal documentary that follows Yuka Sekiguchi, an engaging, articulate, self-deprecating filmmaker who has decided to become a guinea pig in a downsizing experiment. Fat Chance is a moving account of self-discovery and identity. Can Yuka dump the fat and become healthier and happier? Or is that just a Fat Chance?

Guy was interviewed by Andrew Urban for the AFTRS's "Centre for Screen Business" (CSB). The CSB was established to develop a deeper understanding of the "behind the scenes". CLICK HERE to watch the interview.

CONGRATULATIONS to Peter Butt and Film Australia for taking home the 2007 Logie for Best Documentary, beating the favourite, the History Channel's "The Battle of Long Tan".
Guy scored the music for this extraordinary film, which screened in September 2006 to 1.8 million people on ABC TV, making it the most-watched Australian documentary ever screened on the network, and the most-watched program last year on ABC TV. The documentary finally provides an answer to one of greatest unsolved cases in Australia's crime history!
